Christmas is the holiday Christian that celebrates the birth of Jesus , for the Christian son of God and the Virgin Mary . falls on December 25 (the January 7 in the Eastern Churches, for the slip Julian calendar).
The Italian word Christmas comes from the Latin Natalis which means "Christmas on the birth." In the Roman calendar
Natalis the term was used for many festivals, eg Natalis Romae ( April 21) which commemorated the birth of Rome, and the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti , the festival dedicated to the birth of the Sun (Mitra ), also on December 25, introduced by Aureliano in 273 AD, gradually supplanted during the third century [1] by Christian event. Christmas is also known as Christmas or the Nativity of the Lord Jesus, and sometimes preceded by the adjective holy (sometimes abbreviated as SS). According to the
Christian liturgical calendar is a feast of level equal to ' Epiphany, Ascension Pentecost and and below Easter (the most important holiday in Time) and certainly the most popularly felt, especially since the last two centuries, ever since she became the party where gifts are exchanged and the more you is set in the family.
